Tooth Removal & Extractions

Tooth removals and extractions can spark a lot of stress if you don’t know a lot about the actual process. Here at Confident Smiles & Implants, we want to put our patients’ worries to a halt by ensuring we fully educate them on the removal process before their procedure to help them feel more comfortable.

Extraction

Tooth extraction is a very common procedure only performed by a trained dental professional. It’s simply the removal of a tooth, often referred to as simply “getting a tooth pulled.”

Reasons for Extraction

There are a few reasons someone may need to get a tooth extracted.

  • Gum disease
  • Preparation for braces or other orthodontic work
  • Correcting issues of tooth crowding
  • Impacted teeth that can’t emerge correctly
  • Broken teeth that can’t be repaired
  • A severely decayed tooth

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth are located far back inside the mouth and are our third set of molars. They are positioned in both the top and bottom part of the mouth and start to emerge through the gums between the ages of 15 and 25.

There is rarely enough room for wisdom teeth to emerge straight and correctly. Most of the time, they create crowding issues, which is why they need to be removed. They can also cause plaque buildup and tooth decay because they’re tough to reach when cleaning.

What to Expect When Having a Tooth Extraction

To help you feel as calm as possible, we offer several forms of sedation and anesthesia to be administered during the wisdom tooth extractions. Procedures are relatively short and will have you in and out in no time. After the removal, our dentists will give you detailed instructions on how to have a successful and quick healing process. Only by following the instructions properly will your mouth be able to heal correctly.
